On behalf of the members of the Fox Chapel Volunteer Fire Department (FCVFD), I would like to thank the community at large for the tireless support you have provided to our department. Our department has a long tradition of assuring the safety and protection of our community and surrounding communities since 1953 when the department was established by a small group of men, one of whom was my father, Alfred B. “Hap” Humes. It is truly an honor and privilege to serve as your Chief. To all volunteer firefighters who have chosen to serve I would like to offer my sincere thanks and gratitude for your steadfast commitment to fulfill our mission at every hour of every day.
Our volunteer membership is what makes our department special. With over 30 members, thousands of hours of training, and state of the art equipment we have exceptional individuals who choose to serve the community (without compensation) in a way that often risks personal health and well-being when answering calls for help.
What we need most is the continued strong support of our Borough leadership, the assistance of our surrounding volunteer fire departments and companies, our Police, the local EMS providers, our community at large, and new volunteers. There is an important role for anyone who desires to join the volunteer fire service, and the FCVFD will fully support you to ensure your success. We hope to hear from you and welcome you to visit and attend our weekly training sessions to learn more about the FCVFD. See the JOIN US section of this website to learn more.
Thank you for your support and interest in the FCVFD,
W.A. “Dee” Humes
Fire Chief
